These crowd-pleasing mummy-wrapped jalapeno poppers feature a creamy, cheesy filling wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough, perfect for Halloween parties or any gathering. A nostalgic twist on a classic appetizer that’s make-ahead friendly and always gets rave reviews.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1215 medium fresh jalapenos
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (about 6 strips), optional
  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese (for sealing dough)
  • Optional: Everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wearing gloves, slice each jalapeno in half lengthwise. Use a small spoon to scrape out seeds and white membranes. Rinse under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, and crumbled bacon (if using). Mix until evenly distributed.
  4. Fill each jalapeno half with the cream cheese mixture, keeping it level with the cut edge.
  5. Open one can of crescent roll dough and unroll onto a clean surface. Pinch perforated seams together to create a solid sheet. Cut dough lengthwise into 1/2-inch wide strips (about 8-10 strips per can).
  6. Wrap one strip of dough around each stuffed jalapeno half, starting at one end and leaving a small gap near the top for the ‘face.’ Press the end to seal; use a dab of cream cheese as glue if needed. Place seam-side down on prepared baking sheet.
  7. Optional: Chill the baking sheet in the fridge for 15-20 minutes to firm up the dough.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until dough is golden brown and puffed, and filling is hot and bubbly.
  9. Let poppers rest on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a serving platter. Serve warm.

Notes

Keep dough cold for easier handling. Don’t overstuff peppers to prevent dough from sliding off. Use gloves when handling jalapenos to avoid burning skin. Poppers can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated. Unbaked poppers can be frozen for up to 2 months.
