A quick and easy recipe featuring hot dogs seasoned with a spicy firecracker mix and wrapped in flaky crescent rolls, baked to golden perfection. Perfect for a satisfying snack or casual gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 regular-sized beef or pork hot dogs (or turkey/veggie dogs)
  • 1 can (8 oz / 227 g) refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • Optional: 2 tbsp cream cheese, softened
  • Optional: 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Dipping sauce of choice (spicy ketchup, ranch dressing, honey mustard, smoky barbecue sauce)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt. Stir well to make the firecracker seasoning.
  3. Open the refrigerated crescent roll dough and unroll it onto a clean surface. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough into 8 equal strips along the perforations.
  4. Lightly sprinkle the firecracker seasoning over each hot dog, turning to coat evenly.
  5. If using, spread a thin layer of cream cheese or Dijon mustard on each dough strip before wrapping the hot dog.
  6. Starting at one end, wrap each seasoned hot dog tightly in a crescent roll strip, sealing the edges gently.
  7. Brush each wrapped hot dog with melted butter using a pastry brush.
  8. Place the wrapped hot dogs seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  9. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are puffed and golden brown.
  10. Let them rest for 3-5 minutes before serving with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

If crescent rolls brown too quickly, tent loosely with foil. For thicker hot dogs, add 2-3 extra minutes baking time. Room temperature dough is easier to handle. Optional fillings like cream cheese or mustard add flavor and moisture. For extra spice, add crushed red pepper flakes inside the roll. Can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking. Air fryer option: 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes.
