This crowd-pleasing white chocolate candy corn popcorn mix is sweet, salty, crunchy, and creamy all at once—and it takes exactly five minutes to throw together. Perfect for Halloween parties, fall potlucks, or casual movie nights, this mix will disappear faster than anything else on the table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups popped popcorn (plain or lightly salted, no butter flavoring)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 1 ½ cups candy corn
  • ½ cup salted peanuts (optional, but highly recommended)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (skip if using salted popcorn or peanuts)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother melting)

Instructions

  1. Pop your popcorn. If using microwave popcorn, pop one or two bags according to package directions. For air-popped popcorn, you’ll need about ⅓ cup of kernels. Let the popcorn cool completely before moving to the next step—if it’s still warm, the chocolate will melt too quickly and turn the popcorn soggy. You want the popcorn at room temperature.
  2. Pick out any unpopped kernels. Go through the popcorn by hand or give the bowl a good shake and watch for any stragglers.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will be where you spread the finished mix to cool.
  4. Melt the white chocolate. Place the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals at 50% power, stirring well after each interval. After about 1 to 2 minutes total, the chocolate should be mostly melted with just a few lumps. Stir until completely smooth. If it’s too thick, add the coconut oil or shortening and stir until incorporated.
  5. Pour the melted chocolate over the popcorn. Drizzle it evenly across the surface of the popcorn. Don’t dump it all in one spot.
  6. Fold gently but thoroughly. Using your rubber spatula, fold the chocolate into the popcorn with a gentle lifting and turning motion. The goal is to coat every piece of popcorn with a thin layer of chocolate without crushing the popcorn into crumbs.
  7. Add the candy corn and peanuts (if using). Sprinkle them over the coated popcorn and fold again just until distributed. Don’t overmix.
  8. Spread the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Use your spatula to spread it in an even layer. If you want clusters, leave some pieces touching. If you want individual pieces, spread them apart.
  9. Sprinkle with salt. If you’re using flaky sea salt, sprinkle a pinch over the top while the chocolate is still wet.
  10. Let it cool completely. This takes about 20 minutes at room temperature. If you’re in a hurry, you can pop the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 10 minutes. The chocolate should be firm and set before you break the mix into pieces.
  11. Break into pieces. Once set, use your hands to gently break the mixture into snack-sized clusters. Aim for pieces that are easy to pick up and eat, about the size of a golf ball or smaller.

Notes

Don’t overheat the white chocolate—melt at 50% power and stir frequently. Use room-temperature popcorn to avoid soggy results. Work in batches if doubling the recipe. Let the mix set completely before storing to maintain texture. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Can be frozen for up to 2 months.
