Easy Cinnamon Apple Dumplings with 2 Ingredients

easy cinnamon apple dumplings - featured image

A quick and easy dessert made with just two main ingredients—apples and crescent roll dough—wrapped in a warm, cinnamon-scented pastry. Perfect for late-night cravings or busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith recommended)
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (e.g., Pillsbury)
  • Ground cinnamon (for sprinkling)
  • Optional: melted butter or non-dairy alternative (for brushing)
  • Optional: flaky sea salt (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel the apples. Cut each apple in half through the stem. Remove the core and seeds from each half, creating a small cavity.
  3. Unroll the crescent dough and separate into 4 rectangles by pressing the perforations together firmly. If using sheet-style dough, cut into 4 equal squares.
  4. Place an apple half, cut-side down, in the center of each dough rectangle. Bring the corners up and over the apple, pinching edges to seal. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  5. Sprinkle a generous pinch of cinnamon over each dumpling. Optionally, brush with melted butter.
  6. Bake for 18-22 minutes, until dough is puffed and golden brown and apples are tender. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For deeper cinnamon flavor, mix cinnamon with a teaspoon of sugar and dust inside the apple cavity before wrapping. To prevent soggy bottoms, preheat the baking sheet or place dumplings on the bottom rack for the last 5 minutes. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes.
