A quick and easy snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in flaky crescent rolls with a spicy, smoky firecracker sauce. Perfect for casual gatherings and crowd-pleasing appetites.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs (beef or pork, Nathan’s preferred)
  • 1 can (8 oz / 226 g) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha or favorite hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: slices of sharp cheddar or pepper jack cheese
  • Optional: chopped green onions or chives for garnish
  • Optional: sesame seeds or poppy seeds for topping
  • Optional: 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sriracha, honey, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and salt. Adjust heat by adding more sriracha if desired. Set aside.
  3. Unroll crescent dough and separate into 8 triangles or cut sheet dough into 2-inch wide strips.
  4. Slice hot dogs in half for smaller portions or leave whole.
  5. Spread a thin layer of firecracker sauce on the wide end of each dough piece. Optionally add a slice of cheese on top of the sauce.
  6. Place hot dog on dough and roll up from the wide end, tucking sides to seal edges.
  7. Place wrapped hot dogs seam side down on the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 1 inch apart.
  8. Optional: Beat egg with water and brush tops of rolls for a glossy finish. Sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds if desired.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes until crescent rolls are puffed and golden brown. Watch closely after 10 minutes to prevent over-browning.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool 2-3 minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions or chives before serving.

Notes

Use cold hot dogs for easier rolling. If dough tears, patch with extra dough. Watch oven closely after 10 minutes to avoid over-browning. For gluten-free, substitute crescent dough with gluten-free brands. For dairy-free, use vegan crescent dough and dairy-free mayo. Adjust sriracha and honey to customize heat level.
