A refreshing and simple summer drink combining fresh watermelon, mint, lime, and water, perfect for hot days and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cubed fresh seedless watermelon (about 600 grams)
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves, gently bruised
  • Juice of 1 large lime (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 2 cups cold water (480 ml)
  • 12 tablespoons honey, agave syrup, or simple syrup (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Cut about 4 cups of seedless watermelon into cubes, removing rind for easier blending.
  2. Place watermelon cubes, mint leaves, lime juice, and a pinch of salt in a blender and blend on high until smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Taste the blend and add 1-2 tablespoons of sweetener if needed, then blend briefly again.
  4. Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large pitcher, pressing pulp to extract juice.
  5. Stir in 2 cups of cold water to dilute and balance flavors.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill and allow flavors to meld.
  7. Serve over ice cubes, garnished with a sprig of fresh mint or a thin watermelon slice.

Notes

Use ripe watermelon for best flavor. Bruise mint leaves gently to release oils but avoid overpowering. Sweetener is optional depending on watermelon sweetness. Straining is optional for texture preference. Chill thoroughly and serve over ice. Can prepare blend and strain the night before, adding water and ice before serving.
