A light, crisp, and refreshing fall sangria made with dry white wine, apple cider, brandy, and a touch of caramel. Perfect for parties and gatherings, this easy punch is a crowd-pleaser that turns skeptics into believers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 2 cups unsweetened apple cider
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup high-quality caramel sauce
  • 1 large Honeycrisp apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 large Granny Smith apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 large pear (Bosc or Anjou), thinly sliced
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 cup sparkling water or club soda (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Wash the apples and pear thoroughly. Leave the skins on. Slice the Honeycrisp apple, Granny Smith apple, and pear into thin rounds, about 1/8-inch thick. Remove any seeds or core pieces. Place all the fruit slices in the bottom of a large pitcher.
  2. Pour the entire bottle of dry white wine into the pitcher over the fruit. Add the 2 cups of unsweetened apple cider and 1/2 cup of brandy. Stir gently with a long-handled spoon to combine.
  3. Measure out 1/4 cup of caramel sauce. If it’s very thick, warm it in the microwave for 10 seconds to loosen it up. Drizzle the caramel into the pitcher and stir again until it’s fully dissolved into the liquid.
  4. Add one whole cinnamon stick to the pitcher.
  5. Cover the pitcher with plastic wrap or a lid and place it in the refrigerator. Let it chill for at least 2 hours, but ideally 4 to 6 hours. Overnight is best.
  6. When ready to serve, remove the cinnamon stick. Fill glasses with ice cubes, then pour the sangria over the ice, making sure to include some of the fruit slices in each glass. Top each glass with a splash of sparkling water or club soda for a little fizz, if desired. Garnish with a fresh cinnamon stick or an extra apple slice.

Notes

For best results, chill the sangria for at least 4 hours or overnight. Remove the cinnamon stick after 24 hours to prevent it from becoming overpowering. The fruit will continue to soften and infuse the sangria. If storing leftovers, remove the fruit after 24 hours and add fresh fruit when serving again.
