A creamy, spicy buffalo chicken dip made lighter with Greek yogurt and blended cottage cheese. Perfect for game day, parties, or any gathering, this dip delivers all the flavor without the heavy feeling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (plain, full-fat or 2%)
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (part-skim)
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese (optional)
  • 1 tbsp ranch seasoning mix (or 1/2 tsp garlic powder + 1/2 tsp onion powder + 1/2 tsp dried dill)
  • Celery sticks, carrot sticks, cucumber rounds (for serving)
  • Whole wheat crackers or tortilla chips (for serving)
  • Extra blue cheese crumbles and chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spray your baking dish with nonstick cooking spray or rub with olive oil.
  2. Blend the cottage cheese in a blender or food processor for 30-45 seconds until completely smooth.
  3. Soften the cream cheese (microwave for 15-20 seconds if needed).
  4. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, blended cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, buffalo wing sauce, and ranch seasoning. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  5. Fold in shredded chicken, 3/4 cup mozzarella cheese, and crumbled blue cheese (if using) with a rubber spatula until evenly distributed.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden on top. For a deeper golden top, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end.
  8. Let the dip rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  9. Garnish with extra blue cheese crumbles and chopped green onions. Serve warm with celery sticks, carrot sticks, crackers, or chips.

Notes

Don’t skip blending the cottage cheese for the creamiest texture. Use room temperature ingredients for best mixing. Shred chicken while warm for easier incorporation. Start checking doneness at 18 minutes if your oven runs hot. The dip can be made ahead and refrigerated unbaked for up to 24 hours; add 5-10 minutes to baking time. Leftovers keep in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and freeze for up to 3 months.
