A quick and easy weeknight dinner featuring tender salmon glazed with a sweet and spicy honey sriracha sauce, paired with crunchy sesame bok choy for a flavorful and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 skin-on salmon fillets (about 6 oz / 170 g each)
  • 3 tablespoons honey (raw or wildflower preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil (for cooking bok choy)
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil (for finishing)
  • 1 lb baby bok choy, halved lengthwise
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 stalks green onions, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, sriracha, soy sauce, and minced garlic until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Rinse baby bok choy and halve lengthwise. Slice green onions and set aside sesame seeds for toasting.
  3. Toast sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat, stirring frequently, until golden and fragrant (about 2 minutes). Remove and set aside.
  4. Heat 1 teaspoon sesame oil in a cast iron or non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Season salmon fillets lightly with salt and pepper. Place fillets skin-side down and cook for 4-5 minutes without moving to crisp the skin.
  5. Flip salmon carefully and cook for another 3 minutes.
  6. Pour the honey sriracha glaze over the salmon in the pan. Reduce heat to medium-low and spoon the glaze over the fillets as it thickens, cooking for 2 more minutes until shiny and sticky.
  7. While glazing salmon, heat 2 teaspoons sesame oil in another skillet over medium heat. Add bok choy cut-side down and sauté for 3-4 minutes until tender but still crisp. Season lightly with salt and pepper, then toss with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
  8. Transfer salmon to plates, spoon any extra glaze on top, and serve immediately with sesame bok choy.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure crispy salmon skin. Control heat carefully to avoid burning the glaze. Toast sesame seeds separately for maximum flavor. Keep bok choy tender-crisp for best texture. If glaze thickens too fast, add a splash of water or soy sauce to loosen. Adjust sriracha for desired heat level. Leftovers keep well for up to 2 days refrigerated; reheat salmon gently to preserve moisture.
