These savory crockpot ham sliders feature a sweet and tangy brown sugar glaze that caramelizes perfectly in the slow cooker, creating soft, flavorful sliders ideal for casual gatherings or quick meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 slider rolls (soft dinner rolls or Hawaiian rolls)
  • 1 to pounds thinly sliced deli ham or leftover cooked ham
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 4 tablespoons (½ stick) melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Freshly cracked black pepper to taste
  • Optional: slices of Swiss or cheddar cheese
  • Optional: a few dashes Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glaze by whisking together brown sugar, Dijon mustard, honey, melted butter, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until smooth and slightly thick but pourable.
  2. Slice the slider rolls horizontally if not pre-sliced, separating tops and bottoms.
  3. Place the bottom halves of the rolls snugly in the slow cooker to form one layer.
  4. Layer the sliced ham evenly over the bottom rolls.
  5. Drizzle about half of the glaze evenly over the ham layer, spreading gently with a spoon or basting brush.
  6. Place the top halves of the rolls over the ham and press down gently to compact the sliders.
  7. Pour the remaining glaze over the tops of the rolls to create a sticky, caramelized crust.
  8. Cover and cook on low for 2 to 3 hours until rolls soften and ham is heated through.
  9. Optional: About 15 minutes before the end of cooking, add slices of Swiss or cheddar cheese on top, cover, and let melt.
  10. Serve warm directly from the slow cooker using a spatula.

Notes

Avoid opening the slow cooker frequently to maintain heat and moisture. If glaze is too thick, thin with a teaspoon of warm water before pouring. For extra caramelization, broil sliders for 2 minutes after slow cooking. Use sturdy, slightly sweet rolls like Hawaiian for best results. Add cheese near the end of cooking to prevent drying out. Leftovers store well refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
