These freezer-friendly turkey and cheese wraps are a lifesaver for busy mornings. Made with simple ingredients, they freeze beautifully and taste fresh when thawed, making lunch prep effortless.

Ingredients

  • Large flour tortillas (10-inch)
  • Deli turkey breast (sliced), about 4-5 slices per wrap
  • Cheese slices (cheddar, provolone, or Swiss), 1-2 slices per wrap
  • Spread (cream cheese, hummus, or mayo), 1-2 tablespoons per wrap
  • Lettuce or spinach (optional), a few leaves per wrap
  • Parchment paper or wax paper
  • Freezer-safe zip-top bags

Instructions

  1. Prepare your work surface. Lay a large flour tortilla flat on your cutting board. If the tortilla is cold, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes.
  2. Spread the barrier layer. Using a butter knife or offset spatula, spread about 1-2 tablespoons of your chosen spread evenly over the entire surface of the tortilla, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  3. Layer the turkey. Place 4-5 slices of deli turkey in the center of the tortilla, overlapping them slightly, covering an area about 4-5 inches wide and 6-7 inches long.
  4. Add the cheese. Place 1-2 slices of cheese on top of the turkey.
  5. Add optional greens. If using, place a few leaves of lettuce or spinach on top of the cheese.
  6. Roll the wrap. Fold the bottom edge of the tortilla up over the filling, then fold in the left and right sides toward the center. Roll the wrap away from you, keeping it tight but not too tight. The seam should be on the bottom.
  7. Secure the wrap. Place the rolled wrap seam-side down on a piece of parchment paper (about 10×10 inches). Wrap it tightly, tucking the ends under like a burrito.
  8. Repeat with remaining tortillas and filling.
  9. Freeze the wraps. Place all wrapped wraps in a single layer in a freezer-safe zip-top bag. Squeeze out as much air as possible before sealing. Label with date and contents. They will keep for up to 3 months.
  10. Thaw and serve. Remove a wrap from the freezer and place in the fridge overnight to thaw. Eat cold or at room temperature.

Notes

The barrier layer (cream cheese, hummus, or mayo) is crucial to prevent sogginess. Use room-temperature tortillas to avoid cracking. For best results, freeze wraps individually on a baking sheet for an hour before bagging to prevent sticking.
